Approach
We recognize that individuals are at different levels of fitness and bone heath. As a result, we have developed exercise programs specific to your fracture risk and your current exercise/activity level. You will be assigned an exercise program based on your answers to the questionnaire that follows.
The three fracture risk categories are: Low, Moderate and High.
The four exercise program levels are: Beginner, Active, Athletic and Elite.
The following chart illustrates our approach:

For example, if your MelioGuide questionnaire indicates that you are at a Low Fracture Risk and should be assigned to a Beginner Level exercise program, the red circle in the diagram illustrates where you would start. Your program will include strength, flexibility and balance exercises as well as cardiovascular/weight bearing recommendations. You will also be shown exercises to avoid, since certain exercises can actually increase the risk of bone fracture.
The arrows illustrate how, using the MelioGuide approach, your exercise level can improve over time. If you score in the High Fracture Risk category, you will not be assigned the Elite or Athletic Level exercise programs since they could place you at an elevated risk of fracture. If you score in the Moderate Fracture Risk category, you will not be assigned the Elite Level exercise program since it could place you at an elevated risk of fracture.
Good posture is the foundation for bone health and everyone is encouraged to begin with the Postural Level exercises.
If you have not had a Bone Mineral Density (BMD) test we recommend that you consult with your physician.
